Frequently Asked Questions
Since I am an adult, is it too late for me to get braces?
No
matter what your age, you can be treated with braces because the realignment
of your teeth involves the same process. The amount of time to
complete the process depends upon the severity of the problem, patient
cooperation and jaw growth. Orthodontic treatment may take slightly longer
for an adult, because an adult’s
facial bones have stopped growing. However, adults tend to be
more compliant with their treatment and follow the instructions in wearing
some treatment aids such as elastics, so this may actually lessen treatment
time. The good news is that there's no age limit for braces. Anyone
can have straighter, more beautiful teeth. If you need braces,
as well as crowns or other restorative work done, we’ll probably
do the braces first, so we don’t damage the crowns when attaching
the brackets for the braces.
